| PORTRAITSBUSINESSLIFE | When I was in high school I got a job carrying still and film equipment for the photographer who photographed the Alabama Crimson Tide band during halftime shows. He let me shoot a few photos from time to time and I was able to sit in the press box. It seemed very glamorous and made a lasting impression on me. In 1971 when I decided to change careers, I put photography on my list of possibilities. I bought my first camera, looked through the viewfinder, and knew what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I opened my first studio in 1975 with only a few clients and began my life as a photographer. It has given me much joy and surpassed every expectation I had. I have been fortunate enough to have won various awards and have worked with some great people. I am also very proud of the awards and recognition I have received for my pro bono work. I don’t want to imply that it has all been easy. It is a continuous learning process and one I trust will translate into great work for the clients who entrust me to capture their vision.
